What’s expected of you

Experience: Most roles require 3+ years’ experience in your field. You don’t need to be an expert, just confident in your skills and ready to collaborate.

Time: Volunteering typically takes 2–6 hours a week over 4–12 weeks. You won’t be locked into anything—we’ll match you with a project that suits your skills and the time you can commit and if it’s a good fit, you’ll join the project.

See the project through to completion. You’ll choose whether to join a project, and once you’re in, we ask that you stick with it until the end. Most projects run for 4–12 weeks with a flexible 2–6 hour weekly commitment.

Frequently asked questions

  • We do provide support to you as a volunteer but we need people that have enough experience to be able to work fairly independently.

We make sure that your skills are a good fit for the projects you undertake and if a project needs a team we’ll assemble that team, who will then work together to deliver it.

  • Once you register, you’ll be invited to an orientation session with our team to explain how things work and make sure you know how to go about finding a project that you’d like to work on.

We encourage you to join our Slack community where you can keep up to date with project opportunities and interact with other volunteers in the community.

You can step forward for any project that interests you and in some cases we’ll get in touch to highlight a project that we think would be a good fit.

  • This happens sometimes – the nature of volunteering is that, sometimes, other commitments will take priority. In this situation, we just ask that you let us know so that we can make sure we have handover material to pass to another volunteer to pick up the project.
